Like most other major undergarment innovations, boxers featuring an internal pouch can be traced back to the 19th century. In this case, in 1874, CF Bennett of the Chicago Sporting goods company, Sharp Smith, invented the jockstrap, which featured an elasticated waistband and a supportive pouch designed for high impact sports. Over a century later in the 1990s, John Varvatos of Calvin Klein would create a hybrid style of underwear that combined the length of boxers with the support of briefs, creatively naming them the boxer-brief.

Building on this design, in 2013, Underwear For Men would combine the two inventions and patent both mens boxers and mens boxer-briefs with an adjustable pouch. Although a more casual style than a jockstrap, these boxers were still made with sports in mind, which is where Boxeroo comes into the picture.
